As you may know, the Quaker marriage ceremony is unique and
different from those of other faiths. The couple in a Quaker wedding are
not married by a minister, but marry each other in the presence of God and
Friends. An official Quaker religious ceremony requires the approval of
the Meeting to be held "under the care of the meeting" and a special marriage
license from the state of Pennsylvania. Like other churches, Quakers have
a process for approving an official wedding that we would be happy to discuss
with you. However, you may also rent the Meetinghouse for a wedding or
commitment ceremony not under our care; such ceremonies require a standard
Pennsylvania state marriage license and an officiator, where applicable.
